Description
Virtual Handpan is a SampleScience instrument that puts the rounded, metallic voice of a handpan under MIDI control. Its single multi-sampled source is combined with physical-modeling and sound-design treatment, extending the playable range to 57 notes instead of the compact note layout of a physical handpan.
The plugin version supplies an amplitude ADSR, multi-LFO, high-pass and low-pass filtering, amplitude-range controls, and polyphonic, monophonic, or legato voice modes. Those controls make it practical to move from short, percussive figures to slower sustained phrases without leaving the instrument.
Four onboard effects—distortion, delay, chorus, and reverb—give the naturally resonant tone room to become wider, more atmospheric, or more deliberately processed. It is therefore most useful when a handpan needs to carry a melodic line, provide gentle rhythmic motion, or sit inside an ambient layer rather than behave like an unedited acoustic recording.
SampleScience also includes Decent Sampler and Kontakt editions from the same product page. The Decent Sampler option uses the same sounds with different sound-shaping tools, while the Kontakt instrument requires the full version of Kontakt rather than Kontakt Player.
The developer-controlled Gumroad listing currently shows a $0 USD price, an in-stock offer, and format choices for the AU/VST/VST3 plugin, Kontakt, and Decent Sampler editions. The download remains on that exact storefront page so users can choose the version that fits their setup.
